Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been earned on hard courts

A comeback Medvedev won his initial trophy for over two years with a win over Corentin Moutet in the competition final.

The Russian, a former world number one, has endured a challenging year, achieving just one match at the Grand Slams and experiencing a meltdown at the US Open.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and issues with his service game in particular - resulted in him dropping out of the world's top 10 and finally parting ways with former trainer Cervara.

Currently working with his coach and his other coach, Medvedev has consistently improved in the last few weeks - climaxing in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

It is Medvedev's maiden title after the Italian tournament and initial on a hard surface since that period of the previous year.

Success also signifies Medvedev has won twenty-one titles at twenty-one various tournaments.

"For the first time I am participating in a tournament with my both daughters at once, so to win a championship is particularly special," stated ranked player the champion.

"This championship is in honour of my second daughter my daughter, because the first title I got when my child Alisa was born was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had been defeated in his previous six title deciders, featuring in Halle earlier this year.

Medvedev's defensive play style and recurring reactions on the tennis court had caused some to question if his ability to play at the top level was over.

However the athlete has made changes in the past month, making an effort to approach the net and compete assertively, backed up by an better serve.

The champion recovered from a deficit in the opening set against the tricky opponent, taking 4 of the concluding five games to go ahead.

Both players exchanged breaks in the middle set before the challenger, bidding for his initial tour title, seized the initiative to push for a final set.

Moutet saved four initial chances in a close third set before the champion won the break to 15 to serve for the match.

Fittingly, he earned the title with a shot at the net area, with the Frenchman incapable to manage a shot after over two and a half hours.
